DoubleClick to be Acquired by Google -- $3.1 Billion
April 13, 2007 by NoNoSearch.com
Just received a e-mail from DoubleClick that DoubleClick to be Acquired by Google.
"I am pleased to announce that DoubleClick has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Google. The transaction is expected to close later in 2007."
And quote from DoubleClick:
"Mountain View, CA, 4/13/2007 - Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced today a definitive agreement to acquire DoubleClick Inc., a global leader in digital marketing technology and services, for $3.1 billion in cash from San Francisco-based private equity firm Hellman & Friedman along with JMI Equity and management. The acquisition will combine DoubleClick's expertise in ad management technology for media buyers and sellers with Google's leading advertising platform and publisher monetization services. "
Online advertising firm DoubleClick is reportedly set to be acquired by Google, although earlier reports indicated Microsoft closer to such a deal with the popular Ad firm.
The report comes from Wall Street Journal on Monday, claiming that as the acquisition price surpassed the $2 billion, Microsoft has been slow in responding with a counter offer. However, the negotiations are still in progress and no deal has been announced yet.
Microsoft, AOL and Yahoo have been also rumored to have negotiated a deal with DoubleClick in the past. But an acquisition from Google could further strengthen DoubleClick's position on web advertising.
Doubleclick has currently over 1500 clients including large companies such as Ford, AOL network and MySpace.
